As secondary batteries are gradually applied in smart phones, electric vehicles and other fields, the demand for low-cost and high-performance energy storage devices is growing rapidly. Potassium has similar physical and chemical properties to lithium, and it is abundant and cheap compared with lithium. Recently, our research team has developed a novel dual-ion battery based on potassium ion electrolyte. The results show that the new potassium-ion based dual ion battery exhibits excellent rate performance and cycle stability. In addition, the production cost of the battery significantly reduces and has a good prospect of industrial application in the field of large-scale energy storage. The relevant research result has been published in Advanced Materials, and has also been widely reported by ScienceNet, China energy storage network and other media.
